Self-evaluations give employees an opportunity to reflect on their performance, rate themselves against professional standards, and share supporting evidence. This article walks administrators through requesting a self-evaluation, understanding its status, and reviewing the submitted results.
What Is a Self-Evaluation?
A self-evaluation is a professional development tool that allows employees to:
Reflect on strengths and areas for growth
Comment on each professional domain and standard
Rate themselves using your district's rubric
Upload supporting artifacts such as lesson plans, certificates, or work samples
Self-evaluations provide valuable context for evaluation conferences and professional growth conversations.
Before You Begin
To request a self-evaluation, ensure that:
You have administrator or evaluator permissions in Lebra
The employee has an active profile and email address
Your organization has professional development domains and standards configured
Requesting a Self-Evaluation
Steps
Navigate to the employee's profile page.
Select the Self Evaluations tab.
Here you can view existing self-evaluations and their status.
Click + Request self-evaluation.
Confirm the request to send the email.
What happens next?
The employee receives an email with a secure link to complete the self-evaluation
The link is valid for 60 days
No login is required; the employee accesses the form directly from the email
The self-evaluation status updates to Requested
Understanding Self-Evaluation Statuses
Draft - Created but not sent
Requested - Email sent; employee can complete the form
Submitted - Employee has completed and submitted the self-evaluation
Viewing a Submitted Self-Evaluation
Steps
Open the employee's profile.
Select the Self Evaluations tab.
Locate the self-evaluation with Submitted status.
Select the self-evaluation you wish to view.
You'll be able to review:
Employee comments by domain
Ratings and comments for each standard
Uploaded artifacts and file summaries
Re-Sending a Self-Evaluation Request
If an employee did not receive the email or the link expired:
Steps
Go to the employee's Self Evaluations tab.
Find the evaluation with Requested status.
Open the action menu and select Request self-evaluation.
A new email is sent with a fresh 60-day link.
Deleting a Self-Evaluation
Steps
Navigate to the employee's Self Evaluations tab.
Open the action menu next to the evaluation.
Select Delete and confirm.
Note: Deleting a self-evaluation is permanent and cannot be undone.

Can I edit an employee’s self-evaluation?
No. Self-evaluations are completed by the employee and are view-only for administrators.
Can I request more than one self-evaluation?
Yes. You may request multiple self-evaluations throughout the year.
Can I view a self-evaluation while it’s in progress?
No. You can only view the evaluation after it is submitted.
What if the employee doesn’t have an email address?
An email address is required to send the request. Update the profile before requesting.
