Responding to an Observation

Learn how to review observation feedback, submit a reflection, and sign your observation in Lebra Ascend.

When your administrator completes an observation, you'll be asked to review their feedback and, for formal observations, submit a reflection and signature. This article walks you through accessing your observation, understanding the feedback, writing a meaningful reflection, and completing the process.


Accessing Your Observation

Steps

  1. When your administrator is ready for you to review an observation, you'll receive an email notification from Lebra.

  2. Open the email and select View Observation to access the observation.

Important

  • Your secure access link is valid for 60 days.

  • If the link expires, contact your administrator for a new one.


Reviewing Observation Feedback

Your observation includes structured feedback to help you understand strengths, areas for growth, and next steps.

What you'll see

  • Observation details - Date and observer

  • General feedback - Overall observations about your performance

  • Domain and component feedback - Comments and, if enabled, ratings aligned to professional standards

  • Action steps - Recommended next steps for growth

Tips for reviewing

  • Read through all sections carefully

  • Take notes on questions or reflections

  • Approach feedback with a growth mindset


Writing Your Reflection

Steps

  1. Scroll to the Your Reflection section.

  2. Click into the text box and write your response.

  3. Your work saves automatically as you type.

What to include

  • Feedback that resonated with you

  • Insights or takeaways from the observation

  • Context you want to share

  • How you plan to apply the feedback

  • Questions or areas where you'd like additional support


Signing and Submitting the Observation

Signing confirms that you've reviewed the observation and completed your reflection.

Steps

  1. Locate the Signature section beneath your reflection.

  2. Add your digital signature by typing your name into the signature box.

  3. Review everything one final time.

  4. Select Submit my reflection to complete the process.

After submitting

  • You'll see a confirmation message

  • Your administrator is notified

  • Your response can no longer be edited


What Happens Next

  1. Your administrator reviews your reflection.

  2. The observation is finalized.

  3. You will receive an email to download your growth plan once your administrator finalizes it.

How long do I have to complete my reflection?

Your access link is valid for 60 days, but completing it sooner is recommended.

Can I edit my reflection after submitting?

No. Once submitted, reflections cannot be changed.

What if I disagree with the feedback?

Use your reflection to share your perspective professionally, and consider discussing concerns with your administrator before signing.

Do I have to write a reflection?

Requirements vary by organization. Check with your administrator.

Can I see informal observations?

If an informal observation is shared with you, you’ll receive an email notification. Informal observations do not require a signature.
