Two settings on a group's detail page let you share responsibility for a group and tailor it to your evaluation framework: group admins, who can manage the group and its people, and group-specific goals, which pre-select components in the growth plans of everyone in the group.
Both options appear as buttons in the top-right corner of a group's page.
Note: These options are only available on shared groups, not private ones. If you don't see them, you may not have permission to manage this group.
Assigning a group admin
A group admin helps manage a group without needing full organization-wide admin access. Group admins can manage the group and see information for the people in it — for example, in Ascend they can add State Reporting data for employees in their assigned groups.
Steps
Open the Groups page and select a group.
Select Assign group admin.
Find the person you want using the Search by name or email box.
Select the checkbox next to their name. You can select more than one person.
Select Save changes.
To remove a group admin, reopen the window, clear their checkbox, and save.
Viewing analytics across every school you administer
If you're a group admin for more than one school, you aren't limited to looking at one building at a time.
Go to Ascend > Analytics.
Open the School filter.
Select All My Schools.
The analytics on the page then aggregate every group you administer, giving you one combined view instead of a per-building one. Select an individual school from the same filter to narrow back down.
Note: All My Schools covers the groups you're a group admin for. Full organization admins see All Schools instead, which covers the entire organization.

Setting group-specific goals
If your organization uses Ascend, you can choose which components (also called indicators) are pre-selected in the growth plan of everyone in a group. This saves staff from hunting through the full framework when your district or building has a shared focus area for the year.
Steps
Open the Groups page and select a group.
Select Configure group specific goals.
Choose a framework role from the dropdown at the top. Components are organized by role, so pick the role the people in this group are evaluated under.
Select the checkbox next to each component you want pre-selected for this group.
Repeat for any other roles represented in the group.
Select Save.
How this works: selected components are pre-selected in the plan for everyone in the group. Only components matching a person's framework role apply to them, so a component chosen under "Tenured Teacher" won't appear for someone evaluated as a Principal.
Tip: A component is a pre-selection, not a lock. Staff can still adjust their own plan unless the component is marked as a District Goal in your framework settings.
Staff will see these components already chosen when they open their growth plan, and fill in a goal plus its action steps for each focus area.
Good to know
You can also set defaults from the other direction: when adding or editing a component in Settings → Ascend → Framework, the Default for groups field assigns that single component to one or more groups at once.
Changing a group's goals affects plans going forward. Plans already submitted are not rewritten.
