For reviewers and administrators: approve or deny Career Ladder plans, adjust stages, verify logged hours, and export data for DESE reporting.

Once your educators have opted in and submitted Career Ladder plans, this is where you review them, verify completed hours, and pull the data you need for district records and DESE reporting.

This article is for committee reviewers and administrators.

Where to Work

Career Ladder appears in the left sidebar with up to three pages:

  • Dashboard — every enrolled educator, their stage, hours, and status

  • Analytics — participation and hours rolled up across your district

  • Committee Review — the plans assigned to you personally for review

Note: Committee Review only appears when you have plans waiting on you. If you're not assigned as a committee reviewer for anyone, you won't see it.

You can also work from an individual's page — the Missouri Career Ladder section there shows that person's plan with Review Plan, Verify Activities, and View activity log actions.

Reviewing Plans Assigned to You

  1. Go to Career Ladder > Committee Review. You'll see the plans assigned to you for committee review, with each person's hours logged and status.

  2. Select Review Plan on the person you want to review.

If nothing is assigned to you, you'll see "No plans are currently assigned to you for review."

Approving, Requesting Revision, or Denying a Plan

The Review Career Ladder Plan window shows the educator's stage, when the plan was Submitted for Review, each Activity with its Planned Hours, and their compliance confirmations — whether they confirmed the activities are outside their contracted duties and that they aren't otherwise compensated.

Approve the plan

  1. Review the activities and planned hours.

  2. Add Review Notes if you'd like (optional when approving).

  3. Select Approve.

The educator is emailed "Your Career Ladder plan has been approved" and can begin logging hours.

Request a revision

  1. Enter Review Notes explaining what needs to change. Notes are required — you'll see "Review notes are required to request a revision." if you leave them blank.

  2. Select Request Revision.

The educator is emailed "Revision requested on your Career Ladder plan", sees your notes, and can update and resubmit.

Deny the plan

  1. Enter Review Notes explaining the decision. Notes are required — you'll see "Review notes are required to deny a plan." otherwise.

  2. Select Deny Career Ladder Plan, then Confirm Denial.

The educator is emailed "Your Career Ladder plan was not approved" along with your notes.

Adjusting an Educator's Stage Mid-Review

If an educator's plan is sound but their stage isn't right, you can change it as part of your review rather than sending the whole plan back.

  1. In the review window, find Adjust Stage (optional).

  2. Choose the correct stage, or leave it on No adjustment.

  3. Enter a Reason for adjustment.

  4. Complete your review as normal.

Note: Changing the stage changes the hours the educator needs to complete — Stage I is 50 hours, Stage II is 75, and Stage III is 100. Explain the change in your reason so the educator understands the new target.

Verifying Logged Hours

When an educator submits their completed hours, you'll be emailed "[Name] submitted activities for verification" and their status becomes Pending Verification.

  1. Go to Career Ladder > Committee Review, or open the person's page.

  2. Select Verify Activities.

  3. Review each logged entry — the activity, date, hours, notes, and any attached files — along with the educator's final attestation.

  4. Verify the hours, or send them back for revision if something needs correcting.

The educator is emailed either "Your Career Ladder activities have been verified" or "Your Career Ladder activities need revision." Once verified, the plan moves to Completed.

Using the Career Ladder Dashboard

Go to Career Ladder > Dashboard to track enrollment and progress across your district.

Summary cards

Four cards sit at the top, and each one filters the table when you select it:

  • Total Enrolled

  • Completed

  • In Progress

  • Needs Review — plans submitted or awaiting verification

The table and filters

The table shows each educator's Stage, Hours Logged, Committee Reviewer, Status, and Activities.

Narrow the list using:

  • Search by name or reviewer...

  • All Stages / All Roles / All Groups / All Reviewers

If your filters return nothing, you'll see "No enrolled educators found for current filters." Educators who haven't started show as Not Started.

Exporting from the Dashboard

Select Export CSV to download the current list. The file includes:

  • Employee ID, Name, Role

  • Career Ladder Participation Status

  • Career Ladder Stage and Stage Payment Amount

  • Completed Hours and Required Hours

  • Completion Status (Complete or Incomplete)

  • Committee Reviewer, Reviewer Approval Status, and Approval Date

The file downloads as career-ladder-export-YYYY-MM-DD.csv.

Career Ladder Analytics

Go to Career Ladder > Analytics for a district-level view.

  • Participation by Stage — participants, completed, and in progress for each stage, plus Estimated Payout.

  • Participation by Groups — participation broken out by group or building.

  • Hours by Categories — Planned Hours against Logged Hours for every activity category, so you can see where your staff's time is actually going.

Exporting analytics

The analytics export includes Employee ID, Name, Role, Participation Status, Stage, Stage Payment Amount, Completion Status, and Evaluator — plus one column per activity category showing that person's logged hours in each. It downloads as career-ladder-analytics-YYYY-MM-DD.csv.

Tip: Use the analytics export when you need hours broken down by category — for DESE reporting or for budgeting against estimated payouts. Use the dashboard export when you need approval status and reviewer detail.

Email Notifications

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't I see the Committee Review page?

It only appears when you have plans assigned to you for review. An administrator assigns committee reviewers in Settings > Career Ladder > Assignments.

Can an educator have more than one committee reviewer?

No. Each educator has one committee reviewer per school year. Assigning a new one replaces the previous assignment.

An educator's eligibility says "requires review." How do I resolve it?

Their questionnaire included answers that need confirming. An administrator can review the responses and assign a stage, with a reason recorded for the override.

Can I approve a plan whose hours don't add up to the stage requirement?

Check Total Planned Hours against the stage requirement before approving. If the plan falls short, request a revision so the educator can add activities.

Where do estimated payouts come from?

They're calculated from each participant's stage — $1,500 for Stage I, $3,000 for Stage II, and $5,000 for Stage III — and shown on the Analytics page.
